ABOUT THE ARTIST
Justyna Gaja (1981) is an experienced and passionate professional artist. As a child, she told everybody that she would be a painter. When she was 14 years old she started her art studies at PLSP in Poznań (Poland). There, she explored all the secrets of the art and also mastered many techniques in the visual arts. She graduated successfully in 2001 and became an artist. Then she went to The University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań to study the history of art. She graduated in 2008 and achieved a Master's Degree in the History of Art specializing in Dutch painting. Although she found art history important, her inner need to create was irresistible. The Netherlands is a very inspiring place for her. She has lived here for years and has been able to gain endless inspiration.
HISTORY OF ART
Justyna Gaja as an art historian has a deep knowledge of general art history from ancient to modern times. She spent her last years of university studies on scientific research into Dutch and Flemish art from the 16th through the 18th century. She conducted her thesis research partially in the Netherlands. She came to the Netherlands to learn the Dutch language because she wanted to study the old Dutch documents about this subject by herself. She has given her diploma thesis the following title: Flower without scent. Pictorial matters with regard to the symbolic function of the tulip in the Netherlandish - Flemish still life floral paintings 1600 - 1750.
ACTIVITIES
The artist participates in many exhibitions and art festivals at home and abroad.
Every year, she donates some of her paintings to the charity auction of the Aperio Association for Children with Autism and to the Polish Foundation Podaj Dalej.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, she started free online art lessons for children and adults, which you can find and follow on YouTube channels GAJA ART KIDS and GAJA ART CLASS.
